Sinusitis
What is chronic sinusitis?
Chronic sinusitis, also called chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), is a long-term inflammation of the nasal cavities and sinuses that persists for more than 12 weeks. It is a common condition that affects millions of people worldwide and can significantly affect daily life.
What are the symptoms?
People with chronic sinusitis often experience:
- A prolonged nasal congestion, often accompanied by discharge and decreased sense of smell.
- Headache or an oppressive feeling around the eyes, nose and forehead caused by swollen sinuses.
- Fatigue, partly due to difficulty breathing and disturbed sleep.
- Bad breath odor due to bacteria in the clogged sinuses.
Causes and Treatment
Chronic sinusitis can arise from a variety of factors, including allergies, viral or bacterial infections, or anatomical abnormalities such as a crooked nasal septum. Treatment options range from medications, such as nasal sprays and anti-inflammatories, to surgery when other treatments fail. Yet many patients continue to have symptoms even after extensive therapies.
Join research for better treatments
At Anima Research Center, we work with researchers, physicians and patients to develop new and more effective treatments for chronic sinusitis. Through clinical trials, we explore innovative therapies that can help improve quality of life.
Why participate in a clinical trial?
- You can contribute to medical advances and the development of new treatments.
- You will have access to potentially innovative therapies under medical supervision.
- Your participation helps us gain valuable insights about chronic sinusitis and how it can be better treated.
What does participation mean?
Participating in a clinical trial means that you:
- Receive a comprehensive screening to determine your eligibility.
- Receives regular medical check-ups during the study period.
- Helps collect data critical to the development of new therapies.
