World's largest test centre for J&J vaccine in Alken: "Illusion that we will be rid of it in two shots".
It is an illusion to think that one or two vaccinations will get us through. The weaker ones will probably have to be vaccinated again next year. So says doctor Erik Buntinx. He heads the Anima Research Center in Alken, currently the largest research centre in the world where the Janssen vaccine is being tested on people.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine, from Janssen Pharmaceutica's factory in Beerse, is expected to be on the market in Europe in mid-March. The application has been submitted. In the meantime, Dr Buntinx is still urgently looking for 150 people over the age of 60 who would like to test the vaccine on his behalf. All test subjects will be given the final vaccine, possibly before they receive their call-up letter from the government.
