"Anima Research Center has grown tremendously, but the family atmosphere has remained."
ANIMA - FROM THE HEART

At Anima Research Center, people are at the center, both in science and within the team. This time it is the turn of Isabelle (41), a dedicated and versatile professional who has been working in the world of clinical studies for thirteen years. With a background as a nurse and a passion for science, she has built an impressive career. As Study Lead, Study Nurse, Planning Manager as well as Internal Monitor, she plays a crucial role within our team. Read on to discover her personal journey at Anima.
How did you get started at Anima?
Thirteen years ago, I started in the world of clinical trials. In addition to my regular position at the hospital, I went to work on a phase I unit. The combination of nursing techniques, administrative duties and contributions to science was right up my alley. When my children got a little older, I decided to quit my job as a night nurse and started looking for a permanent position within clinical research. Four years ago, I found my niche at Anima.
What is your role within clinical trials?
My work within clinical studies is multifaceted. As Study Lead, I keep an overview of the studies, from liaising with sponsors to making sure all staff attend the appropriate training and collect data. In my role as Internal Monitor, I am responsible for internal quality management and the reliability of all data collected. As Planning Manager , I make sure that there are always enough qualified staff present to conduct studies according to the guidelines.

"It gives great satisfaction when a study is successfully completed and contributes to better care."
What does a workday look like for you?
No day is the same because of the variety of tasks. That's what makes my job so interesting. Sometimes I am busy with staff planning or quality management, other days I travel through Belgium for home visits to participants. I also make sure that the correct data ends up in the electronic file.
Why do you work for Anima Research Center?
My passion to help people and scientific research brought me to Anima. Innovation in healthcare is very important and clinical research is indispensable in the medical world. It ensures that we can be confident that new treatments are safe and effective. In addition, there is a nice group spirit here where different disciplines work closely together.
The gratitude of participants makes this work even more beautiful. When participants say they are sorry to see their studies end, it says a lot. Many are happy to participate in new studies again. Their involvement really makes a difference. In addition, it gives great satisfaction when a study is successfully completed and contributes to better care.
What do you value most about your experience at Anima?
When I started at Anima four years ago, it was a small family business. It has since grown tremendously, but the family atmosphere has remained. I have been allowed to grow within the company and seize all opportunities with both hands. This is something I am very grateful to Dr. Buntinx and his team for and that will always stay with me. I look forward to what the future holds.
